So, this really sucks.
Today was initially supposed to be a big day for MYTHIANS and Studio Chiral, as it was going to mark the first episodes exit from pre-production, as well as the release of a main character voice actor reveal animation. But, the other day, while exporting something unrelated to Studio Chiral, I needed extra space on my drive, so I sent the animation files I had been keeping there to Procreate Dreams (the app I had been using for animating the series since it released last November) and later that day when I went to work on it again, the entire file had been whited out. I tried for a couple hours to retrieve it but I couldn't. I lost all my storyboards and all my animation due to an issue that I could've found a workaround to. I'm certain I made a mismove somewhere as this was the fourth time I'd lost something suddenly like this in the past couple months and every time it was because I was stressed and trying to finish something quickly. That had been months, nearing a year, of my behind-the-scenes work that I lost. I don't know how else to put this, I promise you I wanted to make this a real thing more than anyone else as this whole thing has been my passion project for years. I'd put so so so much effort into the designs and the characters and especially the story. So, I'm gonna try to make the next best thing.
In our last blog, we announced that Studio Chiral would also make webcomics, and the one we had teased with that was an alternate MYTHIANS webcomic about detailing the life of certain Mythians in the wild, Nature Documentary style. That is still in the works and is still planned, but we have decided for MYTHIANS we will be taking a similar approach, making it into a webcomic. I want to return to the Indie Animation scene sometime in the future once I have finished my animation education and have gotten better at it as a whole, while also having more funds to pay the people helping me (so like, years down the line lmao).
Speaking of payment, this is my official message to the people that applied to the Casting Call. There is genuinely so many of you that I wanted to get to because I think you'd be a perfect fit for the series, but if I'm doing a webcomic, it all changes. The original idea was to post dubs of the webcomics with the voice actors I've casted already, but I realized that the agreement was for one episode of the series and payment if the series goes further, not voice acting for a comic dub for an indefinite time. So, for now, no more voice actors (I loved y'all y'all did amazing in the lines we did record I hope we can work together again in the future with payment this time y'all deserve it!).
A webcomic format also allows me to create an even better story that otherwise would have to be incredibly fast paced to fit the limits of an indie-animated series.
That's essentially what the future holds for MYTHIANS, more will be announced later.
But, for the other stuff, I still wanted to update this website with some more stuff since I was preparing a lot of it to be added with today and a good bit of it is non-animated stuff so I still have it! If you check the Mythologica page now, 11 new Mythians have been added! I plan to add a new line to this page every couple of days so check the @chiiral twitter to see when we update it! Below I will list every single type and tribe and what they mean, since they were also refreshed and overhauled completely between the previous blog post and now.
Tribes are categories, every Mythian species falls into one of 8 main tribes. These tribes are:
Gutsy
Cryptid
Astral
Healing
Nimble
Tank
Eerie
Enchanting
Types determine the elemental strengths and weaknesses of a Mythian. Mythians can use attacks from other types, but it will not be proficient in them. There are 19 types:
Basic
Plant
Fire
Water
Light
Undead
Ice
Toxic
Earth
Insect
Martial
Mental
Electric
Metal
Food
Sound
Air
Anicent
Crystal
Thank you for reading. Whenever the Mythologica page updates, it will be posted onto the Studio Chiral twitter. Have a good day, and I'm sorry about the unfortunate news.
