The Refresh Update (Blog 005)
The Refresh Update (Blog 005)
Written by Purrplecolored - August 29th, 2025
Hello!
It has been a very long time since there have been any relevant Mythians News, and the last episode released in Febuary. I am sorry for the long wait, truthfully I am. But we've got a ton of exciting news to share with you all relating to the future of Mythians!
1. Comic News
Firstly, I would like to announce that we are restarting our comic. In preperation of our one year anniversary (on September 29th), all of the updates today will be to make the project as refined as possible before we start remaking and properly executing the comic to my original vision. I love Mythians so much, I've never put more effort into anything, and there is a ton behind the scenes that has made it quite the stressful project to work on, but I am positive that the changes announced today will put it back on track to being what I want it to be. The new comic will also be quite different then how the webcomic was initally handled.
Instead of "weekly" mini-sodes apart of a larger chapter, Mythians will instead be taking a monthly chapter-based format. The idea is, the chapters will be larger and more fleshed out, and by releasing them monthly we can ensure they are the best they can possibly be, while still having a reasonable deadline for each chapter. Ontop of this, we are changing how the panels will be formatted. Currently, Mythians is formatted to be read on apps like Webtoon, and it kind of self-sabotaged the project, since every panel is simply on one long vertical strip. Instead, we will be making pages of panels, read like a traditional comic book. The series will not be leaving Webtoon, but now the series is accomodated for readers on other websites like Twitter and purrple.art! This also allows for Mythians to get physical comic printings in the future, something not possible if Mythians remains in its old format.
With that out of the way, I can announce that the first chapter of the new and improved Mythians, is scheduled to drop on September 29th, 2025, at 6 PM EST (on our anniversary. yes haha)! We will announce if there are any delays to this date ahead of time. The goal is to drop the monthly chapter for Mythians on the 29th of every month (28th for non-leap-year Febuary). This is subject to change, but this is the date I am most confident in at the time of writing this, having been preparing the series for this all Summer. I hope to see you there!

NOTE: Currently MOST of the above new Mythians are NOT in the website. This website is a mess, I will fix it up over the next month, as I mention in the section below. When everything being added is put in the website, this text will be deleted. Most calls are also not in the website. You can hear all of them on a tweet going up on my account (@purrplecolored, I'll repost on @Mythians_) later today.
5. purrple.art Updates
This very website will be updated a ton over September, but heres the changes we have avaliable now! The biggest change is the url update. You might remember it as "studiochiral.com". We changed our domain a long time ago, actually, but we never made a proper announcement. This comes as I want to keep my projects connected to me. By making the hub more related to me as a person, the projects feel more like subsets of what I do on the internet, as opposed to simply working on a project that is larger than me (I know my scope, and I know Mythians is not some big phenomenon lmao).
This means new pages, so you will see a new home page format different then what we had previously! We've also reformatted a ton of the other pages, including the Mythians page and every sub-page on the Mythologica.
Not every Mythian will have the new formatting, since it takes forever and I just couldn't fit all of it into todays release. Slowly, every Mythian will get the same refreshed formatting.
Old Format
New Format
Main differences include the return button, detailed weight and height information as well as a graphic comparing the Mythian to Mico. These will slowly come, but forgive me if they take a while.
Another thing is that a ton of Mythians were missing their Alternate Colourways (some would be missing albinos or exotics etc). This is another thing I will approach in a future update. I wanted it to be with this update on the 29th, but ran out of time. They'll slowly be added, for now check Skrat's page :3
6. One final announcement...
There is one more thing I plan to release sometime in September leading up to the comics return... A completely new project that I've been working on for months.
Introducing: Mythians: Trading Card Game!
I have always loved the idea of making my own trading cards, and my own board games. As a kid who grew up watching shows like Pokémon and Yo-kai Watch, I created my own creatures from a young age onto index cards that I'd play with friends. These index cards layed the foundation for Mythians almost a decade ago, even though it is not even remotely similar to what it was back then, lmao. Recently (start of 2025), I've been wanting to make my own board game since there is no way currently to "play" Mythians. So, I started this project, and it is nearing the end of its development and almost ready to release! And we have set the project up so that there can be more expansion sets in the future! So this ends up being a bit of a "Base Set", if you will.
These will be Physical and Digital cards. We will be getting cards physically printed, and it is so so cool. You can also join our Discord and use the gacha bot to get digital trading cards for free! ...When it releases. This project will probably be close to being done in mid-September, but no promises there (the comic is already a lot to keep up with haha).
But how does the card game work?? Great question! A question that will be answered at a later time! (Sorry)
You can look at a standard card to the right and see if you can understand. If not, no worries, it will be explained at another time.
For now, let me explain how the physical cards will work.
You can buy a Booster Pack for the Mythians Trading Card Game at about $2.99 USD, plus shipping, when they are stocked & are released. Each pack comes with 10 playing cards total: 6 standard cards, 3 holographic cards, and 1 "Illustration Rare" holographic card guaranteed (Sneak peak of one of the Illustration Rares to the right, teehee. Drawn by @firephenix563 (my wife), but it is incorrect on the test print (oops)). Mythians TCG: Base Set has 116 standard cards.
Every card in the set except for Illustration Rares (which are not counted in the 116 total) can appear in the first 9 cards, so technically there is a 1/3 chance for any given card to be a holographic one (technically its a foil pattern not a holo pattern but neither of us care). There are also non-guaranteed rarities, like "Albino" Mythians, which appear once every twenty cards, and "Exotic" Mythians, which are once every sixty cards. If a Mythian has the "Regular" marking on the bottom of its card, it means it has an Albino and Exotic version too. These Albino and Exotic card arts (especially for the Illustration Rares) will not be revealed or shown publicly until they are found. Illustration Rares are also either detailed drawings by me, or they're commissioned pieces from artists in the Mythians community.
(also the cards there are slightly wrong and weird. As I said, test prints, so take it with a grain of salt. Maybe a few pounds of salt).
Thank you so much for reading, I appreciate your eyes immensely. This has been quite the tiring Summer for me, but I will be on the @Mythians_ Twitter account posting stuff from this blog and new stuff every once in a while (new stuff that got delayed from todays update lmao) so stay tuned over there.
